Below are the
Terms and Pricing for puppies and adults. I are a small
breeder striving to breed show quality Pomeranians. I only
breed a few litters each year. I strive to be fair and honest
in my dealings with all of my customers. Please do not contact
me to tell me that you can buy a puppy from the local newspaper for
$200. I know this. You may not be looking for a show
quality puppy, but that doesn't mean you will get pet quality price
for a show quality puppy. My prices are set according to what
I see in the quality of structure, color and
attitude of the puppy.
I strive to
bring top quality into my breeding program and I am confident in my
ability to produce top quality Pomeranians. My goal is to
produce genetically and temperamentally sound Pomeranians that meet
the American Pomeranian Club standard. Spending the extra $ to
purchase a sound and healthy Pom will save many more $$ spent at
your vet's to treat the genetic conditions I don't breed in the first place.
All of my dogs
are AKC registered, and I register all of my litters. Some puppies
are sold as "pet" puppies, with limited registration. With
these "pet" puppies you will be signing an agreement to have them
spay or neutered. Do not expect to buy a "pet" quality puppy
and then decide to breed it. Every litter will have puppies that are
not the quality to be bred, or shown. This may be for cosmetic
reasons, such as lighter pigment, or an incorrect bite. The pup may
not be outgoing enough to perform well in the show ring. His size
may be less than perfect (to small or too large) but he will still
be a loving pet. Puppies sold as "breeding/show" prospects come with
full registration. My puppies are raised in a family home environment
where they are part of the family. You won't find more dogs in
my home than will fit on the couch with us.
On occasion I will
place an older dog to a loving home as a pet. These will be rescue
animals or retirees who deserve a family where they can be doted on
throughout the remainder of their times. Being a breeder means
being contentious enough to keep my quality improving while keeping
my number small enough that all can get the love they deserve. This
will occasionally mean placing a much loved adult in another loving
home.
At the bottom of this
page you will find a link for Adoption application. Please
read and accept all of these terms prior to applying for adoption. Thank
you for your consideration.

Shining star - this is referring to something that we REALLY
REALLY like and really aren't ready to part with, but will
if the price is right. |
$2,500 and UP |
Although we do not breed for
tiny Poms, occasionally they do come up. Tiny pet
puppies of exceptional quality are priced at show
quality prices, due to the demand for them. "Tiny"
is an estimated adult weight under 4lbs.
|
* Note
|
A puppy that is not
orange, orange sable, red, red sable, black is usually
an exotic color. White, chocolate, blue, cream
sable, parti, lavender, beaver are all examples for exotic colors.
|
|
**Note |
Merle puppies will be priced between $1,500 and
$4,000, based on the same standards listed in
our terms. Because of the controversy in
relation to showing a Merle puppy we are making
no statement as to the capability of a Merle
winning in the show ring.

|
*** Note
|
Weight is a genetic
that is really tough to estimate. We
absolutely do not guarantee an adult weight, we do
try for our best guess (get that? this is a guess).
Based on our experiences with our lines we have a
formula that has given us the most accurate results
in our guesses. We have no experience with
lines other than ours. Even with the most
consistent of lines there are throwbacks to our 60lb
ancestors.
We estimate the
weights of our puppies with the following formula: |
-
8 week
weight x 3 +.5lb - which means a puppy
weighing 1lb 1oz at 8 weeks will be
estimated at 3lb 8ozs as adult. We
would indicate 3.5 to 4 lbs with our
evaluation.
-
12 week
weight x 2 +.5lb - which means a puppy
weighing 1lb 2oz at 12 weeks will be
estimated at 2lb 9ozs as adult. We
would indicate 3-3.5lbs with our
evaluation.
-
If the
adult weight is over 6.5lbs all bets are
off, as we have seen absolutely no
consistency there and have been right on
just as often as we have been totally
off so we will decline to estimate.

|
|
Other than Puppies |
|
Adults may vary widely
depending on age, health concerns and disposition. |
|
Rescue dogs will be placed for the cost of their Vet
charges for spay/neuter, teeth cleaning and shots; plus
$60 placement fee. All of these monies will be
returned to my rescue fund so that
other rescue Poms can be taken in. Rescue dogs are not
generally AKC registered. |
|
Stud Fees |
|
On
occasion I do use our boys for outside stud fees.
Breeding is only considered to approved AKC papered
bitches where the structure and qualities of the Stud
and Bitch are complimentary. Brucellosis testing is
required within 30 days of breeding. With negative
results given to me prior to the Bitch coming to my home. Pricing will be
agreed by contract agreement prior to breeding. |
|
Deposits and Terms of Purchase: |
|
I require a deposit of 1/2
the purchase price to reserve the dog (non-refundable).
Balance must be paid within 3 weeks of the initial
deposit and 10 days prior to shipment. If the
balance is not paid within the 3 week period the dog
will become available for resale, unless the puppy was
reserved before the age of 8 weeks. If that age
falls outside of the 3 week period payment is due at the
8 week mark. Other payment arrangements maybe made
on a case by case basis. All monies must be
received by the seller, in full, prior to transfer of
the animal.
Should the payment
not be received within the agreed time I will credit the
entire deposit toward the purchase of another puppy
within a one year time period. If the credit is not
used within that one year period the credit becomes null
and void making it no longer valid.
The evaluation of
breeding and show potential is my best estimation at 8
weeks as to what that puppy will grow out to be. I use
the Pat Hastings "Puppy Puzzle" method of evaluation,
but in
show prospects a definitive evaluation cannot be made on
puppies less than 9 months of age. Breeder assumes no
responsibility as to reproduction capabilities of this
male or female puppy. Show prospect is defined as
"having no major or disqualifying faults for his/her age
- on the date of this sale". Show or breeding prospect
puppy will have even or scissors bite and males will
have two testicles descended into the scrotum at
maturity or a replacement will be made when one becomes
available.
Proof of puppy teeth extraction (between the ages of 6
to 9 months) must be supplied for validation of
warranty of occlusion for a breeding or show dog-as well
as documentation of proper maintenance for dental
hygiene. Occlusion cannot be guaranteed without proper
maintenance by the buyer. Warranty is replacement only.
If the dog is returned, for a warranty replacement, a
dog of equal value will be given as replacement (all
shipping charges incurred are at the buyers expense). If
buyer elects to keep the dog with a warranted defect, as
described above, the seller will credit the buyer the
amount paid for this dog over and above the base price
listed above for a PET of their color category toward
any future purchase of another dog to be used within a
one year period. Credit will be applied after the
seller provides Vet certification indicating the dog has
been spay or neutered. If the credit is not used within
that one year period the credit becomes null and void.
No other warranty either expressed or implied exists
between the buyer and seller of this breeding or show
potential dog.
I
guarantee this puppy/dog to be in sound body and good
health, and free from communicable disease as far as
appears to the eye. I provide a 72 hour warrantee
against distemper, hepatitis,
adenovirus2, parvoviurs, and coronavirus. The buyer has
72 hours (Sunday not included) from the time of transfer
to have the puppy checked by a veterinarian of their
choice, at their own expense. If the buyer’s vet exam
reveals that the puppy is sick or diseased or a genetic
defect is found and a vet of the breeder’s choice
concurs with the diagnosis, the buyer may return the
puppy to the breeder at the buyer’s expense. Notice of
intent to return must be given to the breeder within 96
hours (Sunday not included) of the date of the transfer,
along with a statement in writing from they buyer’s vet
as to the heath problem. The breeder will apply the
balance toward the purchase of another puppy/dog within
a one year time period. Shipping of the replacement
puppy is the buyers expense. If the credit is not used
within that one year period the credit becomes null and
void. There is no guarantee against accidents, or sickness
not contracted on the breeder’s premises.
All
pet puppies must be spayed or neutered - without
exception. Registration papers may not be given until
vet proof of spay/neuter is received by the seller. |
|
Shipping |
|
Shipping is done at the buyer's expense and I do
reserve the right to hold the dog
for
shipment until weather permits it being
done safely. Air shipment is negotiable but will run a
minimum of $300. The additional charges related to
shipping
will be the vet check and health certificate (and rabies
shot if required). Vet charges average about $65. Payment
in full is expected 10 days prior to shipment. If
payment is not received prior to shipment, puppy/dog
will be held until full payment is received.
Additional shipping charges that may occur if the puppy
has been held for non-payment are the buyers
responsibility.
Buyers are always encouraged to come to my home to pick up their puppy.
This gives the buyer the opportunity to see the
surroundings that the puppy is coming from. |
|
Payment Types |
|
Due to a recent encounter
with an attempt at Fraud, we have been forced to no
longer accept personal or business checks. The
only means of payment we are able to accept are cash,
money order or cashiers check. |

Why
Are the Prices So High?
The price of
QUALITY purebred dogs is a bit high these days. Many people
want to know why.
For the
reputable breeders who care about the breed they are
breeding and are working hard to provide quality dogs, both
physically and mentally, that will be an asset to the breed,
there is a LOT that the breeder puts into their program
before a puppy is even born!! The puppy costs themselves
are minimal, unless a c-section was needed (add $600 to
$2500 for that).
Showing to Strive for Quality
I believe
showing dogs is important for the very reason the shows were
invented in the first place: to find the best possible
specimens for breeding. I show my dogs to make sure I know
what the top dogs are, what their qualities are, and to
strive to meet or exceed those standards. There are fads
that come and go in the show ring and I am not talking about
that, and I am very against breeding to dogs that win ONLY
because they win. A good breeding program still must have
the knowledge of correct canine structure and locomotion
(movement), what correct "type" is for that breed, a
thorough understanding of the breed standard for that breed,
etc. However, I feel it is very hard to breed outstanding
dogs of a certain breed without measuring your dogs against
others -- it is simply too easy to become isolated and out
of touch with what is important for that breed.
But I Only
Want Pet Quality
Pet quality
puppies from "show lines" are usually a better cut above
ones who aren't simply because they are bred with the goal
in mind of creating the highest quality possible. Breeders
who only breed "for pets" have their goals set much lower.
Costs of a
Good Breeding Program
Here are some of
the things that go into creating and maintaining a breeding
program of lovely dogs that are great representatives of
their breed, are healthy and have good temperaments:
-
Go to shows,
meet breeders, show commitment to breed (join clubs,
attend meetings, read books and articles) COST: $200 to
$500 per year plus many days and hours!
-
Purchase
show quality dog to show (NOTE: the above step must be
done first or it is very hard to acquire a show dog of
any worth!!) COST: $1500 to $2500
-
Maintain dog
(food, vet bills, de-worming, etc.). COST: about $500
per year per dog
-
Show dog to
Championship to prove its worthiness and value to the
breed. COST: on the conservative side, about $1800
(this is ridiculously conservative as only gas money,
entry fees and grooming products were included and not
lodging!)
-
Assuming
success thus far, purchase another show dog of opposite
sex whose pedigree and physical characteristics
(genotype and phenotype) will compliment your first
one. If not successful, start over anyway! COST: add
up totals above once if first one worked out, twice if
not.
-
When above
has been repeated (and paid out) enough to have acquired
and shown two lovely dogs, one male and one female, who
compliment each other, you can now prepare to breed them
by doing the necessary genetic screening tests for that
breed. In Pomeranians that's thyroid, knees, and heart
maybe eyes. Permanent identification is required
previous to the tests. So for Microchip, CERF, Patella
and Cardiology screening and certification PER dog,
COST: currently about $147.50 per dog if you save money
at screening clinics.
-
IF ANY DOG
DOESN'T PASS ALL THE TESTS, STOP, and START ALL OVER!!!
-
If your male
and female pass the genetic screening to make sure no
awful stuff will be passed to the puppies, perform a
Brucellosis test on at least the female. COST: $60
-
If no one
has scary diseases, you may breed them. Now we have
Ultrasound and Xray exams for the hopefully pregnant
female. COST: $120 to $300
-
IF YOU
CANNOT GET FEMALE PREGNANT, STOP, and START ALL OVER
with new female, male, or BOTH!!
-
If you are
Blessed with a litter of 2 or 3 puppies (average for
Pomeranians), you will now need to feed them when they
start eating mama's food, give them at least 3 sets of
shots and de-worm them. You also may need dewclaws
removed. COST: $30 or so as a low estimate PER puppy.
-
SinCity
Pom's
puppies also
get microchipped, spayed or neutered, and their rabies
shots. COST: $300 PER PUPPY
-
IF A
C-SECTION WAS NEEDED, add $600 to $1500 to litter cost.
TOTALS
WITHOUT a
C-section, a conservative estimate assuming only 2 show dogs
were purchased and turned out (HIGHLY UNLIKELY), a litter of
3 puppies costs the breeder: $8,340.00 (with spay/neuter,
microchip and Rabies).
THIS IS
$2,780 PER PUPPY!!
To be quite
honest, SinCity Poms and most breeders have actually paid a
LOT more (most of us would much rather NOT look at the
actual figures!). The cost of the hotels or RV were not
added to the show costs, several dogs purchased did not turn
out good enough quality to breed, etc.
And so now you know,
Why
the Prices Are So High :-). |
